Swim Team

Emily asked me if I would explain a little about my swim team, so here it goes. In May I think or maybe April my boss kept telling me that we needed to make more revenue. Somehow when the budget was made for this year it was a little extreme and our income was no where near what the hospital wanted. So Bill and I started racking our brains for different ideas they were: 1. increase the cost of swim lessons (they are already a lot) 2. have a movie night 3. have a swim team. Well the other 2 were denied but my swim team made it.
I have an 11 man team and it is so much fun. We practice 3 days a week and we will have 3 meets. We have already had 2 and the last one will be in a couple of weeks. I wish we could have more kids and more pool time and space but we are limited seeing how our pool is only 4 lanes wide. Yes it is very very very small.
I love coaching these kids they make me so happy. Plus it has helped me to like my job more and not want another one. My next project after the swim team ends will be to create an adaptive swim program. I am really excited about that so if anyone has any ideas on how to help me please let me know. I was also asked today at the meet if I would do stroke clinics during the year. So more things to plan and start. I'm excited that I am using my degree a little bit. Next year I hope to be a little more prepared and really get this summer swim team going.
Thank you Hailey for your help today!

The Canning Begings

For my birthday I got this:
So yesterday I tried it out and made these.
I sure hope I did it right but I think they look kind of pretty. Not as pretty as peaches but they will do and hopefully we can eat them one day too. It was great I went and picked the green beans for .75 cents a pound, I got the jars for free so the only thing I had to buy were the lids. Hopefully I can can peaches next!

Happy Birthday to Me

My birthday was great. We didn't do a whole lot but it was great. We swam in the morning and taught some of my swimmers how to dive. It was great being at an outdoor pool. We ate sushi for lunch and shared a frozen yogurt. Then we relaxed at home and went fishing at night. After having such a crazy month of going places every weekend it was nice to relax at home.

I know my hair looks great in this picture, I guess this is what happens after you ride in the jeep for 45 minutes and its hot and humid.
Here is a picture of some of my swimmers at our last swim meet. I haven't put a picture up but here they are. I really love coaching these guys its so much fun. Hopefully this week at our meet I'll get some nice pictures I just have to remember to bring the battery. So I bought a new lens a couple of months ago and I love it. It makes me so happy. I'm still learning new things about it but I really do like it. I love how the hook and line are so clear in this picture. Where are all my old roommates with their cute kids. I need you to come visit so I can take pics of you guys!
Here is Jesse's first catch a nice size catfish, and notice the Jeep in the background. Oh and this was the biggest fish we caught last night.
Here is my sad little fish. I caught 2 blue gills and Jesse caught 1 catfish and 1 blue gill. He wins for the biggest fish and obviously we tie for catching the same amountWe took some pics while waiting to catch something, just anything
Well I got a little hungry
So when we got home I got to eat this wonderful Cheesecake Jesse made me for my birthday. Well I think he made it more for himself because he has eaten most of it and man is he proud of it. It did taste really good.

Baltimore

Jesse and I took a trip this weekend up to Baltimore. We had planned on going to a Cake Concert with some friends and so we decided to take some time and visit Baltimore. It turned out to be great and there was a lot to see and do. We went to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum just for my mom and brotherHere I am with Babe Ruth in front of Oriole's Camden Park
Here is the light boat we checked out. We decided that a job on this thing would be very boring because their job is pretty much like running a light house out in the middle of the ocean. This boat was stationed in Chesapeake Bay.The Constellation it was an old battleship with sails and cannons along the sidesHere is Tursk the submarine from WW2Jesse was really excited to be on a WW2 submarine

Here is a picture of the a light house we saw. It used to be out in the Baltimore Harbor but they brought it to the Inner Harbor to restore it.

Another Skirt

I made another skirt and it was so much easier than the last one. I followed the same tutorial and it worked out great. Once again it fits and that is the best part. I made this one out of a table cloth that I got at Marshall's for $5 and now I have extra material. Now that I have made 2 skirts I guess I should wear them more often and get out of my basketball shorts which are so comfortable. Skirts are wonderful though in this humid summer.

Taking the Jeep Out

We took the Jeep out yesterday and went on post around a lake and then we went to find some old cemeteries. Here is Jesse being very proud of his jeep and not getting stuck or breaking down.We saw 2 old family cemeteries that are out in the woods on post. We thought this one was pretty cool because it is just in this family cemetery.

These are some of the old head stones. They are pretty hard to read. Some even have bullet markings on them.

4th of July

We went camping at Fort Fisher with the Johnson's for the 4th and it was great. We came home with sunburns and mosquito bites but had a great time. The beaches here are so small compared to the ones at home. The first day we had to move back until we were at the grass line just to stay out of the water. I guess they dredge the sand every couple of years and they haven't done it in awhile so the beaches are all super narrow

This is a picture of Chloe. I realize I have lots of pictures of her but she is so cute and check out her sweet sunglasses.
And here is a picture of Chloe and I. She wasn't very happy because we were standing in the water and she HATES the water. I was with Mike so I don't feel that I was being mean by standing there.
We went to Fort Fisher which was used in the Civil War. Only a part of it remains because man and weather (hurricanes) have ruined most of it. The confederate army built these mounds to protect themselves. Fort Fisher is located at the mouth of the Cape Fear River so they were trying to protect it. Anyways we know the rest of the story. These mounds are probably the highest point on the island.
Here is a cannon that they have out there. I think its purpose is for people to sit on it and take pics so thats what we did.
Here is a view from one of the mounds we were able to go up at Fort Fisher.
