Sewing

Sometimes I wonder where all my time goes. Sometimes its spent in front of the computer editing pictures I was busy for awhile which was really nice. Then sometime is spent cleaning which is a never ending process especially the kitchen. But I spent a ridiculous amount of time cross stitching Seth's stocking. I didn't get it done before Christmas but thats a whole other post. So after getting annoyed with cross stitching and tired of editing I decided to sew a few things.

We went to Joanne's a long time ago but it took me forever to finally make pillow cases. Kade picked out the fabric (ok i might have helped him a bit but he choose the moose fabric)

Kade chose the Santa's for Seth

So I have been working on this since Seth was born, not like I worked on it all the time it sat a lot!. Mark sent me a jelly roll for christmas last year and so I turned around and used them to make a quilt for him. yes its super bright but he said he likes it.

Then I decided that the boys needed christmas ties. So Saturday before church I sewed up these beauties.

Oh man aren't they cute!

They play so good together and I just hope it only gets better.

Santa and Trucks

"Hey Kade smile"... and this is what I get! See his eye, yeah he ran into the wall and had a nice gash on his face.

We went to Jesse's work party and Kade got to see Santa again.  Doesn't he look thrilled?  At least he isn't screaming he just went right up to him and sat on his lap.

We were on our way to the car when Kade saw the 'big trucks' and dad being awesome let him in.  Oh he was so happy

And after we took him out he then cried for 10 minutes because he didn't want to get out of the truck.  Yikes!

I finished our stockings and now they are hung (with tape).  I just sewed up scraps and well they are okay, they work for us...i guess I should think about stocking hangers of some sort for the coming years.

Projects

A few weeks ago I finished making the valances for our windows.  I have 2 more to do but i need to go buy more foam.  These were super super easy to make.  I used this tutorail and wow it was great.  It took me awhile to figure out what I wanted but I love these.  It adds just the right amount of brightness to our really white walls.

I found the fabric when I was in Las Vegas visiting the Mel's.  Its a discount fabric store and paid less than $5 a yard for this fabric and the stuff for Kade's room.  I was so excited and I bought so much of it. I ended up putting the flower stuff all downstairs.

Here is a window in Kade's room.  My goal is to get his room complete before the baby comes. 

This week I found frames at Michael's for cheap so I bought a few and then framed some pictures I have had.  I actually just used a couple calenders I have saved that we have gotten for Christmas from the Pearson's.  I have 3 calenders that I saved and I'm so glad I did.  I like that Kade has pictures of Christ in his room and I love that I could repurpose the calender.  I couldn't throw the beautiful pictures away.

Here is there other wall. I really need to replace the black frames but I have not found any the right size yet.  Kade now points out and can say the animals in the frames.

I made a tree skirt for our awesome tree.  It was fun to go to Joanne's and get all the Christmas fabric.  Have I mentioned thatI love pintrest because that is where I have found a lot of stuff, well at least saved it there so I can find it again. I used a few different tutorials and oh wait its still not done but I'm not worried about that until after Christmas since there are presents under the tree now.

Now out of all the projects I have done recently this is the one I'm most proud of.  In August while in Solvang I bought this crossstich stocking and I am proud to say its done!! before chirstmas!! It took forever and I worked on it all the time. Now I'm not sure what to do with my time.  It took forever but I'm so happy I did it.  I think it looks so good and I hope Kade will love it.

One day I got together with some friends and we made these great pillows. Its fun to do it with friends and its a lot cheaper if you all split the fabric.  We got the idea from Cluckclucksew I love her site.

I had extra fabric so I made this pillow i used this and this for inspiration.  I really like how it turned out. I love making pillows because they are easy and then really easy to store the cover.

Now I just have to finish making a stocking for Jesse and me, paint the playroom, finish Kade's quilt, wrap presents, make a few, and hopefully have fun doing it all.  Its totally possible now that Kade's stocking is done, I wont know what to do with myself.

Happy St Patricks Day

So I just can't help taking pictures of my kid.  He is just too cute and these pictures are just too funny.  I found the hat at the dollar store and then I found this cool tutorial on how to make a tie and then the ideas for the picture just came about. By the way the tie is super easy to make. I have a feeling my poor child will have tons of embaressing pictures of himself.  Sorry  Kade, okay well i'm really not that sorry because he is just too cute.  He is looking at Jesse in everyone of these pictures it makes me smile. We did cut his hair and that will be in a post to come but for now have a happy St Patricks Day!

This and that

So our son is a week old! Yikes its crazy to think that a week has gone by already. Things have been going well so far even with the lack of sleep. We had our first family outing yesterday and we went to Raleigh to go to REI and to Costco. Kade did amazing we was such a trooper. We now have a sweet stroller and tent. I'll have to take pictures later. We are also trying a new schedule for kade. The idea is he has to feed/wake time/nap time. The idea is from a book called On Becoming Baby Wise. We started it yesterday and last night he only woke up once!!!! well time for me to wake him and start our routine for today

Kade LOVES to get his hair washed. He is not so fond of the sponge bath but then who is? When Jesse started to wash his hair he calmed right down and just laid there. I'm pretty sure he was like this for 2 minutes at least. I did get some on video and will try to post it as soon as i can figure out how to upload the videos onto the computer.
Ahh the chickens..... the Johnson's came over the other day and Chloe loves the chickens. I'm not sure how they convinced her to go into the cage with them but when I walked outside there she was. She was clapping at the chickens trying to give them hugs and then she was yelling Boo that them I guess to try and scare them. She is too funny. Oh yeah we are having a chicken feast today, Goodbye white chickens!
We cleaned out the pond the other day and planted some new flowers and filled the pond up with clean water. It looks so much better now without all the weeds and green water. Mom and Jesse did most of the work but I did help a little =)
Thought I would throw in a little family picture that we took the other day. After taking pictures of Kade I thought we needed a family pic so mom took some on the front steps.
So I made this little clutch purse for Erin for her birthday and since she already got it I figured I could post a picture of it now. It turned out a little funny but its okay my sister still loved it. I also made her a super cute bag but somehow I never took a picture of it

15 More Days

So it has been another few busy days. I don't know if I mentioned before that Jill and I were going to make diaper bags. Well here it is. We both made one and we love them. They don't really look like diaper bags which means we can use them for lots of different things. It has lots of pockets and so far we are both Loving our bags. If you want to make one yourself click hereHere is my garden I realize I took the picture kind of far way. Things are growing good I have 3 or 4 zucchini's about ready to get and my tomato plants are getting big they are even starting to flower I guess I better get their cages up. Do you see the lawn?? Yes I mowed it today and man that is hard work. I decided not to try to teach myself how to use the weed wacker. I know it should be pretty simple but it kind of scares me so I left Jesse something to do when he comes home.
Here is a before picture of our not so pretty pond. Today Mike helped me drain it. Oh man it is disgusting and my plan is to clean it out tomorrow. I also bought some shade plants today to plant around the pond. I figure I can enjoy the pond a little bit more than last year since I will be home.


Our chickens are HUGE. Do you see how FAT those white ones are you can kind of see the back of the red ones but man the white ones are taking over.Is it normal for them to be almost as big as their water feeder
And this is why they are so fat they have to sit down to eat and drink. Do you see this one, he has to sit down and drink.
Lets just say Jesse is coming home tomorrow and I feel that we will be having some kind of chicken on the bbq sometime soon. Mom be ready to pluck some chickens when you come!!

37 weeks! and a busy week

Today was a great day even if it felt long. Jill and I plus her kids drove to Willmington to meet up with a friend who was visiting. Wilmington is a cute old town and we enjoyed walking on the waterfront and eating lunch. We also stopped by the beach for an hour or so. I feel like we should have done a lot more today but with a 2 month old that needs to be fed every 2 hours it slowed us down a lot. I guess I should be getting ready to throw our new schedule in too. Hopefully Rex and baby boy will be on the same eating schedule but my luck they wont be. Here is a picture of me at 37 weeks and 3 days...not that I'm counting.

I am now really starting to feel pregnant. I guess I should since I have less than 3 weeks left. Its amazing how a little walking can make me so tired and then sitting makes me tired and its just hard to find a happy medium. I think my body feels so much heavier and I blame not being in the pool for 3 hours a day for that. I am however loving not having to go to work.

This week has been busy I have been working on lots of different crafts trying to get things done. I got a massage on Tuesday which was wonderful. I watched Chloe and Rex while Mike and Jill went kayaking for their anniversary (thank goodness Rex took a bottle, it was his second time trying the bottle) yesterday I finished a diaper bag that Jill and I were making. It turned out great
It was however a lot of work but I think it looks great and so does Jill's. Today we went to Wilmington and tomorrow I have a swim lesson, then learning how to quilt with a lady from work and then another friend is coming over in the afternoon. So if I say I'm tired I guess its self inflicted but I really just don't know what to do with myself if I don't have a list of things to do. Oh yeah and I need to clean the house before Jesse gets home in 4 days. Where did this last month go?

Oh and Below are some cute pictures of Chloe. I lover her glasses and her hair cracks me up....no hair thing just good old sweat and salt water holding that baby up.

Spring! Almost 35 weeks

Here is a pretty rose from one of the bushes in my backyard. I kind of forget we have rose bushes because they blend into the fence but I was able to cut them back a little this year in hopes that they would look better this year. I think they are pretty. I was however annoyed this morning when I was sitting watching the chickens and looked up to see a squirrel running across the fence with something bright red in its mouth. Then I realized it was one of my roses. Yep looked at the plants and there was a whole flower missing. And then I looked at my morning glories and found the dirt thrown everywhere and some of my plants dug up. See the poor plant on the right it used to look healthy until that stupid squirrel. I am getting sick and tired of that squirrel. If I knew where the bb gun was and had a good eye that squirrel would be a goner. Its spring time and my garden is growing!!! Last year my garden was not very successful but by the looks of it I'm doing okay this year. My peas, beans and zucchini plant have really taken off and I have a cucumber plant down there that is coming up.

So I saw a newsboy cap on this blog and thought i would try to make one. This is how it turned out. I think its pretty darn good for a first time hat. Thanks Bella for being my model even if its a little big.Here is the cap on the table. Its made out of a mans sports coat.
I used my panda as my first model before Bella and her family came over to look at the chickens.
Now on to the chickens. I know they are in the background but do you see how huge those white ones are! I mean they are HUGE. I love the little red ones I think they are still cute.
The FAT white chicks...have I mentioned that they are only about a month old, well maybe a month and a few weeks.
Another sewing project I did this week was a camera strap cover. I saw it on iheartfaces.blogspot.com. It was super easy and I like the orange fabric I found.
And last night Jill showed me how to make shoes for kids that are just starting to walk and I made these this morning. It is strange not having Jesse around and then I didn't go to church until 1:00 because I now have a calling in the family ward as a primary teacher. I get to teach the 9 year olds and it was pretty fun. I was able to get these shoes done in a few hours I'm sure it will be faster the next time I make them because they are super easy.
Now onto more sewing projects. Jill and I have been frequent customers at Joanne's. The best thing about that store is you can always use a coupon and things are always sales. Its wonderful I just wish they had more boy fabric but I think that is the life of sewing. I think I will try to make another pair of shoes.
